RECEIVED

REG. 23 MAR 07.

Hongkong, 19th January, 1907.

271

His Excellency

7. 4. May, C.M.G.

Dear Sir,

It has occurred to me when thinking of the approaching visit of His Royal Highness the Duke of Connaught, K.G., etc., etc., and the unveiling of the Statues, that as the Colony will shortly possess Statues of her late Majesty Queen Victoria, Their Majesties the King and Queen, and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, our "Royal Square" will be more complete if we also have a statue of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales.

It will be a great pleasure to me and I shall esteem it a high honour to be permitted to present a Statue of the Princess of Wales to the Colony and I shall take it as a personal favour if you will kindly telegraph to the proper quarter to obtain the necessary permission for the Colony to accept the present so that it may be understood at the unveiling of the Statues that the Colony will at no distant date be in possession of a Statue of the Princess.

Thanking you in anticipation.

I have etc.,

(Sgd.) H. N. Mody.
